Samtskhe-Javakheti is located in South outskirts of Georgia and borders on Turkey and Armenia. Separated from West Georgia by the chain this region is distinguished  by more severe climate: its dry in summer and cold in winter here.About half of population are Armenians, Akhaltsikhe is the capital of Samtskhe-Javakheti.
You’ll not find extensive vineyards in Samtskhe-Javakheti: a relatively climate makes this area risky for agriculture, but you’ll definitely find here a great amount of historical showplaces lot of which date from X-XII centuries CE. Part of them is represented by monastery complexes such as :
1)Zarma .
2)The Green Monastery.
3)Safari Monastery.
4)Timotesubani monastery.
5)Caves Complex Vani.
6) Vardzia occupies a special place. The town and monastery complex caved in the caves. In XII-XIII it was enlarged and improved by order of Tamara queen. Uspenski temple ( which became  monastery Vardzia), libraries,baths,secret ways and system of canalizations,-all of that were by the queen in order to strengthen the natural citadel. By this very day Vardzia includes about 600 artificial and natural caves and is the one of the most interesting showplaces in Georgia.
Second part of showplaces is represented by fortresses. Three of them are standing out: Tmogvi,Khertvisi, Rabati. The biggest one of them is Rabat fortress, was built in XV-XVI centuries and belonged to Turkish. In 2011 it was reconstructed , two central streets,  mosque Akhmediye, its minaret, Jakeli castle , citadel were rebuilt . Also the fortress walls and Orthodox Church were re-edified.
Besides there are two National Parks in Samtskhe-Javakheti: Borjomi-Kharagauli Park and Javakheti. In Borjomi-Kharagauli Park the tourists can choose 12 different ways. They are calculated for from one til several days.
National Park Javakheti is called park not for rich vegetarians at all. The largest natural forest is located around Kartsakhi lake. The rest plantations are artificial. But the Park is rich by its lakes. There are lots of them here: small and big, deep and not too . The most famous ones are Tabatskuri, Madatafi, Kakhisi. But a special one is Pharavani lake. Its big enough but not deep. Its depth is only 4 meters. Due to it the scientists could have discovered an ancient burial mound on its bottom which is 900 square meters and dates from IV century AC.

If you’d like to improve your health you should definitely come here. There are a lot of all-year resorts with well-developed infrastructure. Borjomi resort is famous for its mineral water. Abastumani specializes in treating tuberculosis. Its water also good for treating nervous system, gynecological diseases and skeleto-muscular system. Tsemi is another resort for treating tuberculosis. Both children and adults can receive treatment here. In addition there are the usual rest houses and camps here too.
Tsagveri resort is perfect for those sick of anemia. For there’s a source of mineral water with heightened content of Ferric.
The water in Likani source is rich of hydrocarbons,magnesium and calcium, plenty of carbon dioxide.
There’s also ski-resort in Samtse-Javakheti which is Bakuriani. Actually it is a small cozy town in mountains, amid the pine trees so the air here is full of oxygen. In summer here it is as much interesting as in winter. Though you cannot ski but the nature is so beautiful that you don’t even recall about skiing. summer and in winter it’s interesting here. As for ski sport there are five tracks here: Didveli,Tatra,Mitarbi,Kokhta and a track for the beginners 25 meters length.
Samtskhe-Javakheti is unusual,beautiful region ,worthy to be seen. You’ll definitely fall in love with this place after the tour organized especially for you.
